Real money poker sites are a dime a dozen on the internet. It seems like any Google search you do for real money online poker sites returns more results than you could possibly hope to parse, even if you had unlimited time.
This presents a real challenge for a new player looking to dip their toe in the online poker waters. Most new players don’t have a limitless supply of funds, either, so they can’t just deposit at room after room until they find the one that’s best for them. There’s also the issue of trust and security – new players don’t want to hand over their personal information to just any operator. This is especially true given that online poker rooms will often require you to provide very sensitive information such as your official ID and banking details. Certainly no one wants to be giving that information to one more person than is absolutely necessary.
So what’s the solution to this dilemma for new online poker players? Their best bet is to ignore all of the generic review sites and go with a trusted name or community. It’s not exceedingly easy to find either, but you can generally judge them fairly accurately simply by noting the size of the community or the depth and quality of content on a portal site. You don’t have to be a poker expert to know whether an article is written well or written poorly, and you don’t have to be a poker expert to realize that it’s difficult to fake or fool a community of several thousand players.
So, new players to the world of online poker, take note – it’s probably best to not start your journey directly at a room. Instead, get involved in the community surrounding online poker, do your research, and join a room after you’ve got a better sense of which one will be right for you.
