When you watch the big high stakes games of poker on TV, sometimes, you’ll see the hands ran twice or more, in order to keep the stakes a bit more in check when a major confrontation happens between two stacks; it reduces variance and makes things a bit less scary when you get an all-in for your entire bankroll on a coinflip. Not many online rooms have added this feature into their software – you won’t find it at Party Poker, for example – but Sportsbook.com is ahead of the curve again with the advent of their “Deal It Twice” function on their client.
When playing at any real money table with “Deal It Twice” enabled, both of the players will have an option once all in to either run it once or twice, depending on the option the select. If both of the players in the hand choose to run it twice, the turn and the river will be dealt twice, depending on what stage of the hand you’ve chosen to get all in at. Even if you get it all in preflop, you can only run the turn and river twice; only one flop will be dealt, regardless, so keep that in mind when choosing the option preflop.
When should you use it? If you’re in a big all in pot that represents a significant portion of your bankroll, and you want to decrease variance, this can be a good method in reducing variance and keeping your bankroll intact if you have a 50/50 shot in the hand. It isn’t an option you’ll want to use for every all in, obviously, but having it as a tool in your poker bankroll is never a bad option to have, so having it with the Sportsbook.com client is always the nuts.
