This is a nice little variation on the quiz we had the other day.
I’m betting near pot again here. We’ve got a pretty solid story having bet flop and turn hard, and it really feels like the villain is clinging on to a weak ace. The river creates a problem in that we’ve been counterfeited if we had 87, but we can still represent aces up or a set with a strong barrel here.
It’s also quite possible that the villain has been check/calling a draw and missed, and I’d hate to check behind and lose the pot to a higher whiffed draw.
I continue the story and bet 75. We’ve represented strength on every street, and villain is clinging on. No draws got there. If he can call a pot-sized river bet with Ax then gg.

The “loose passive” players sound like fish and we have an agressive image = we get called a lot if we bluff here.
Also it seems unlikely they have a draw as we hold 7d8d; more likely that they have an ace.
I vote to give up

Fish still don’t call rivers with air… and slowplaying an A on this board would be really, really silly. My suspicion that villain has a missed draw as well is big enough to fire again here. Our story is that we have an A and were attempting to price out draws.

A good part of the v range is a busted draw that’s beating our busted draw. Maybe 1/3 or more. We have to bet here. Will v always fold? Of course not. But we will lose 99.9% of the times we don’t bet here. And as others have notes betting is consistent with our story of having made our hand. I bet 50.

Hero has told a tight story. That deuce on the river was good for us. I think if the V had something like A10 or AJ, they would have pressed the pace more. If they have a suited Ace V may check-fold, concerned over their kicker on a low board.
I’d lead for $65.

Agree with the masses – we are in a good spot to fire a 3rd barrel.
Assuming we bet around the pot, we only need V to fold around 50% of the time to make this +EV.
V’s range certainly includes enough weak aces and busted draws to get that.

Definitely one of those situations where we are not winning this hand unless we bet. We’ve told a nice story the whole way – might as well try to take it down. I’d bet about 55. Really looks like villain missed his draws too. He would have probably let us know if he had A-10 or better. So if he called us all the way down with A-rag then he’s either really good for knowing about “bluff catching” or he’s really bad for not being able to let go of a semi-crappy hand.

V is calling us down, it’s that simple, with AX we’re toast. He’ll call a shove unless he thinks we made a straight with 34, or miraculously made quad deuces. The best way to deal with a loose aggressive in late position (US) is to call!!! He would be the next chip leader! One thing’s for sure, we don’t show anyone our cards!
