Daily Hand Quiz

Game type: No limit cash game, 6-max
Your image: Aggressive
Misc notes:
Your hand: 5♠8♠

The Setup: Preflop, UTG limps and the table folds to you. You complete the SB and the BB checks. Nice flop for you with a spade draw and a gut:

4♠Q♣6♠

… and you get right to betting, potting the flop for $6. The BB and Player A call, and the turn is heaven:

7♣

You keep at it and bet the pot for $24. The BB now raises you for the minimum and Player A gets out of the way. The BB has about 140 more behind after their raise. What’s your play holding the nuts in this spot?

It’s simple. He has two pair. Ship it and expect to be called

he wants to play so lets play. this may be the last chance to get him to put it all in if he’s straight drawing, if he has a pair/draw combo he may bite, anything stronger he will play. this should be a mentos commercial.

Wow – some of these no-brainers lately. If you call – villain is left w/a pot bet. His stack is to short to try and get fancy. Why let your opponent off the hook for free. If his draw card doesn’t come in – you don’t get paid on the river. So put it AI now and make him pay to outdraw you.

I want it all in on this street. We can either min-reraise and let him come over the top or we can ship it right now.
This is one of the occasions where I think the min-reraise is less likely to get the job done than the shove.

Rare opportunity when the opponent shows strength against the nuts, so RRAI and max value. Besides, the min-raise could mean pr/FD and we need to charge for a potential suck-out.

I shove here. We have the nuts now but about half the deck could change that. Need to charge v to draw.
