Game type: 5/10 no limit holdem cash, online
Your image: TAG
Your hand: K♦K♣
The setup: You’ve been fairly TAG so far this session when you’re dealt KK on the button. UTG folds and UTG +1 raises to $35 and two players in front call by the time the action gets to you.
The SB has been insanely active preflop and seems especially keen on picking up pots where there’s a raise and multiple callers. You’ve seen him make it $200+ in similar situations about four times in the last few orbits. You haven’t seen him do it from the SB yet.
What’s your play with KK in this spot? Would your answer change if you held aces?

so the actual question is do we want to risk taking KK 6 handed to a flop in exchange for the unguaranteed chance the SB will squeeze and we gain an extra few hundred bucks?
i dont like that idea. if we raise here and get even one caller we will have gained the same amount of money that his squeeze would have given. not to mention we have huge value and id rather take this HU for more value than just gain 1 bet and fold the rest out. we can find better squeeze catcher hands. we get to act last every time this guy squeezes and id rather catch and blast him with 88 or something where if he folds i dont mind too much or feel i missed value.
KK 6 handed against any ten cards is only 41% to win and it lessens when we actually assign ranges to the raise and call. compare this to the 80% we have HU. ive said before theres no point in dumping money without increasing your chances of winning.
raise her on up. getting 1 caller already makes up for the lost squeeze bet, and increases our chances of winning as well. too much value in this one to risk. also we dont know if the SB was getting way out of line those 4 hands or if he actually had the goods. sometimes you need a little proof to go along with the reads and image. id do the same here with aces. too much value.
heres a better question – whats the minimum hand youd need to play back at his squeezes without having any proof yet of being out of line?

I’m raising to $190 to price-out Ax callers. If I held AA, more likely to flat, hoping the agg SB will re-pop. Otherwise I believe you play this hand textbook-style and get the $ while ahead. Calling leaves you vulnerable in a multi-player pot, especially if an A hits the flop.

I can’t help it, I still raise. I can make enough money on my own without the SB’s help and I’d rather not get fancy, watch him fold, and get owned postflop. No thanks.

Exactly. Otherwise this becomes one of those quizzes where we get creative and v doesn’t do what we had anticipated.

I’m happy winning $120 here with no callers to my raise, if I get reraised I’m all in. Likely the raiser and callers all have the same hand. A-K A-Q
or pairs.Make them pay to see a flop!
