i really can’t see the point here. We’ve raised from EP, and been 3-bet, so gotta give the CO credit for an over-pair or AK type hand. The odds are that we’re behind, and we’ve only got 6 outs. If you lead, you’re gonna get called, and if you miss, are you prepared to fire again ? Early days, decent stack, can’t see a reason to get funky….check fold and move on.

Hero has an aggro image, so the UTG raise may not be perceived as that strong. Nevertheless, I think mid-pairs+ through AQ are likely the range for the villain 3-bet. While the flop was not bad, this board could certainly have hit the v as well. We have <7 bbs left so not prudent to commit here, as an over-pair is going to call. Leading and check-calling are spewing chips that you don’t have enough of, so I’d check/fold and wait for a spot to shove/double-up.

opps, incorrect math on the bbs … <70 bbs … that pretty much trashes my post.

i voted check call, more for a lack of a better option than anything else. check raise is the only other real possibility. i just dont see a flop that hits us much better than this other than flopping a set. why call the 3bet preflop if we’re not playing a low ball flop that gives us additional outs if we’re behind. donk-betting here is sure to get raised so i dont like that. a check raise is interesting. we would get a missed hand to fold, but a big pair probably repops us and now we’re in trouble. too much risk for this early in a tourney. i say check call, hope our 6 outter hits, or v gets scared and slows down giving us a chance to steal on later streets. stick around here and learn a bit about our tablemates (these ‘no strong read’ images indicate our heroes arent investing the time and focus it takes to gather up the info necessary to play winning poker down the stretch)

Check/fold. Don’t know why we called the 3-bet preflop, this is a terrible hand to play OOP in a 3-bet pot.

check folding is probably the best option i guess. unless you pick up a read that he’s weak when he c bets. then i would probably try and take the pot with a decent raise.

Agree this is not an ideal spot OOP and I probably fold to the PF raise, but we may not be in as bad a spot as it first seems. Our original raise looked pretty weak and I think a lot of players will re-raise with a fairly wide range. This flop did not likely hit V, so all I’m really concerned about are bigger PPs or paint on future streets.
I think there’s enough out there to take a stab at it for around 2/3 pot.
If V has overs, it’s pretty hard for him to call here.
I’d fold to another reraise.
If V calls, we’re behind (but drawing to the straight or another 5) so I’d checking the turn.

I have no problem with the check-fold line either.

How exactly does an UTG raise for 2.5x look weak? I’m thinking opposite, our raise looks strong, so I’m giving the 3-bettor a narrow range of 99+ and AQ+ Most likely flop didn’t need to hit V !

Gotta agree with the check/fold opinion. I don’t want to put more chips into this pot and who knows, maybe villain will check behind. But I’m folding to a bet, unless the bet is low, say around 1000 or so, which it probably won’t be. Also, I kinda agree with Kugelman – without a read on villain this is a pretty terrible hand to call a 3-bet with preflop only to be out of position for the rest of the hand. Unless I hit a set or perhaps have a flop of 2,3,4 I’m outta there. Maybe I play too tight, I don’t know. It just seems a little spewy to me the way this went down.

i agree with most of you. why did we call the 3 bet out of position? after you call the 3 bet out of position, you’re representing that you have a very big hand here. This player put himself in a terrible position but i think you gotta lead out here on this one and fold to a reraise. if you get called, check/fold this one down cuz youre beat.

Blabla, checkraise and he’ll fold.
Doesn’t matter that much if we have 55 or not, we’re representing a totally different hand.

i opted for check raise after not thinking about it for long enough… i think thats on the basis that you can get a fold right there on the flop, if they flat and you miss, then short of an opportunity to take it on the river i go into check/fold mode, which does seem a bit of a spewy line. If they 3bet the flop you can fold right there, you are obviously beat.
Having read the other posts i think i prefer a check/call line – i agree with cityborn, why would we call w/ 55 OOP to a 3bet, against an opp with no strong read, if we’re going to check/fold on this kind of flop?
