Game type: $300 WPT satellite, Full Tilt Poker
Stage of tourney: Early
Your image: TAG
Opponent’s image: No strong read
Your hand: 4♠3♠
The setup: It’s still in the first hour of this WPT satellite and you’ve been relatively quiet, opening a few pots but not going to any showdowns. This hand you get a suited 43 and make it 3x to go. The CO calls and both blinds call. You flop strong:
6♠3♦Q♠
The blinds check and you bet 310 into 360. The CO calls and the blinds fold. You turn the flush with the 8♠ and check. The CO checks behind. The river brings the 7♣.
You bet 780 and the CO raises to 2160. What’s your play?

wait, you were making fun of people who voted call? tell me how you turn a boat on an unpaired board. Thank you. Voted call due to the strength of our flush.

how do you make a boat on a non-pair board hens?

I call. Given the way it was played I think I’m good here with the baby flush. It just looks like the villain has come too far in the hand and may have something that he is essentially turning into a bluff. I think he probably shows up here with 1 pair, maybe 2 pair. We’re good and if not thats the way it goes.

Voted call. I’m thinking the V has a bigger flush, a set, or missed. Most players bet that turn if they hit the flush to build the pot. If a 4th spade hits the riv, they may not get action. I think a set is betting the turn as well unless it was made on the riv. Hero checked flush on turn; V putting hero on top or overpair, scared of 3rd spade, giving the V an opportunity to represent here. Getting almost 3-1 to call, so look them up.

Voted raise what is another 310 to maybe knock him out. With the straight and flush possibilities may be trying to run a bluff.

I really don’t like the check on the turn with a weak flush. With a stronger flush, I like the check – but not this one. Why give villain a chance to draw another spade? Plus, betting the turn would have given us a much better idea of where we are now.
That said, I’d call and usally expect to see a set or two pair. If he has a better flush, at least I still have some chips.

unfortunately you gotta put all your chips in here n hope he has a straight or a set.
[Reply]
No point in reraising here – the 300 chips you save are worth a whole lot more if you lose, and are stuck with around 800, than if you win and have ~6,000.
Almost wish I could find a fold here, but you’re well-disguised, so you could see a straight or a set raise for value, or a bluff, since your big bet on the flop looks a lot like AQ. Have to call.

I call here and regret not taking control of the pot on the turn. This hand is very vulnerable due to poor play.

Hey Hens, can I play when you are playing. You read boards with the best of them.
[Reply]
good point brian. i understand why you would call in this situation now and not raise villain all in.
[Reply]
the board is unpaired and you’ve made your flush against one opponent… wtf else are you trying to hit when you raise 3xBB PF?
[Reply]
p.s. by that I mean… I RAISE here all day… and if he shoves I call.
