Game type: $50 rebuy, PokerStars
Stage of tourney: Bubble
Your hand: Q♠7♠
The setup: The bubble breaks when two more players exit this tournament.
You are in last place.
This hand a few players fold and the action is to you with a suited Q7. The SB is a tough tournament regular, but you have no read on the BB. The other players behind you haven’t done much out of the ordinary since you’ve been at the table.
What’s your play? If you fold, what’s your minimum hand for raising in this spot?

I might shove, I might fold. I guess it depends on my mood. I’ve been in this spot before and have decided that almost any two cards are worth trying to double up with and I’ve also decided to keep folding waiting for a better spot – which usually ends up in being blinded out. In all honesty, I hate bubbling tournys, it totally sux. But on the flipside, hanging on just long enough to make the money usually doesn’t make me feel much better either. I mean cmon, who wants to work that hard for 4,5,6 hours or more just to barely make your money back? I think I just convinced myself to shove by writing this.

Last place? Looks like we have SB covered, no? I think shove here. SB will not be calling liight since they will have position next hand. What happened last hand? Don’t think BB will be committing 1/3 of his stack unless very strong.

Same holds true for CO and button. I like being first to act after all 3 big stax have folded. Will not have that benefits next hand. Must shove now.

Like to have a read on E as he’s the only one that can afford to call without a premium hand. If he’s on the tighter side, I may shove. Otherwise fold.

A standard 3x raise is a third of your stack.. the only raise would be an all in. Our hero has come so far into the tournament to the bubble, only to risk it all on Q7s? I don’t think so. The straight possibility is weak, and position is two off the button. This is not a hand to be playing at this point in the tournament. You have enough fold equity to last you another round of blinds, wait for an ace, preferably medium to strong kicker, and push.

If you’re going to raise you gotta shove. Or else you will price the BB to out flop you. Shove and hope to take the blinds.
