Your image: Solid
Opponent’s image: Possibly a little titlty
Your hand: A♠K♥
The setup: You’ve been playing a pretty standard game at this full ring table when the following hand comes up. You raise AK to 3x after two players fold. One fold and then you’re repopped to $500 by the next player, who just reloaded after losing a decent pot. The table folds around and you call. You flop the nut spade draw:
3♠4♠8♠
You check and he quickly bets $750 into $1075. What’s your play?

Voted raise – $2250. Hero has potential of 14 outs. Build the pot before your card hits; may take a nice pot down with the raise. If v has a K or Q of clubs, they may call/shove which is fine since hero is ~5-4 fav to win this hand. Prefer a raise to a call since you are likely to get more action on the flop then the turn.

Raise. With a stronger hand, I might raise a standard amount, but here, I shove it all in.

Hmmm….this is a good quiz – tough spot. I don’t know if I’d really feel like putting in a whole lotta money or stack off in this position. So villain just lost a huge pot and may be a little tilty, but does that mean he can’t possibly have a hand here? He re-popped preflop so who knows what he could have. If its Aces or Kings your in trouble. If he’s already got a flush or a pair you’re still in trouble. If you re-pop his raise of $750 now he may let it go if he has nothing, but what do you do if he goes all in? Call? I think I may lean towards calling his raise here and re-evaluting on the turn. I mean, what about pot control here because as of right now, you’ve got jack squat. I think he might bluff off his whole stack if you just call and do happen to hit one of your outs and then check it to him to trap.

im flat calling here.
the problem is, if hes on tilt, he’s more likely to make a big play with a hand thats beating us but otherwise wouldnt be worth it for him to invest so much. like, for example, lets say hes got something like pocket 9′s or 10′s…or A/8….normally if we raise here, maybe he drops it, maybe he flats and slows down, but in this spot, im thinking he would be more likely to shove which is not what id want, since im on the short end of a flip situation at best.
flat calling allows me to continue playing the hand….calling a turn bet as well…..while not playing for stacks. there will be plenty of money in the middle by the time its over….we’d be happy to take it down if any of our outs come through and we end up best.
