Game type: $215 WSOP Satellite, PokerStars
Stage of tourney: 7/10 remain
Your image: Aggressive
Opponent’s image: Smart, aggressive player
Your hand: T♣T♦
The setup: You’re down to seven players in this ten person satty. The top three finishers all receive entries to the $650 WSOP MTT Satty.
You’ve already built a decent stack when the following hand comes up. You get TT in the SB and a solid player in MP makes it about 2.5x to go. The table folds to you.
What’s your play?
DHQ says: This can’t really be a call, because you’re not getting the implied odds to call for a set and you’re out of position. It also can’t really be a raise, because risking 20 blinds against a solid player that’s only going to call with a range that’s crushing you is a bad idea in a satellite.
In a ten player satty starting with 1500 chips where top 3 pay flat, the average stack three handed will be 5k. You’re pretty close to that right now, and getting the extra 400 chips isn’t worth the gamble of losing the 2k. Fold and move on.

Impossible to answer for me with key information missing;stack sizes,….
[Reply]
Agreed. Yesterday had the same problem. Where are the usual graphics? Where’s the necessary info?
[Reply]
Last two quizzes have been kind of pointless without the visual info.
[Reply]
Agreed.
Staff, if you play poker like you host a website, Im not listening to you anymore

Quiz = Fail

I’m sorry, folks, but, um, how much do you pay for the site? Cut these folks some slack. A gentle nudge about the missing info is sufficient. No need to be a dick about it.
[Reply]
Actually, Don, you seem to be the only dick.
All the previous posts simply point out that the quizzes are impossible to answer without the missing info…or in my case, with a smile, I gave em a little ribbing.

Regardless of stack sizes, unless we are super short (but we are not as staff indicated we have around 20 bbs), I still can’t see why TT should be a FOLD to an aggresive player near the “bubble” for a 2.5x bb raise. Its at least a call with a hand as strong as TT
[Reply]
yeah, this was our bad. unsure what happened.

I like calling here.
A raise here commits us to the hand w/ any over shove so unless we plan on pushing right here, take a flop and play some poker.
Like the last hand, I’d like to know what kind of history he has with this bet amount. But I feel pretty strongly we’re ahead at this point.
I don’t believe he’d be making this size open with Js Qs or Ks given the chip stacks of the other players. I range him with AJ or a broadway, maybe a small pair.
I like leading with most flops.

I agree with jeff. Play some poker. You have some chips, and I don’t see how you can put him or jj or better just from his open 2.5x. I think we’re good enough to get away from this even if we flop all unders and he shoves, and if you happen to hit a set you’re huge. And if not, toss it and chill with your big stack.

fold? really? tht doesnt seem good

What I would like to now is:
Is he a thinking player?
Have he seen us check-raise with a strong hand after a pre reraise?
If the answer is yes I’m raising. The risk that we’re facing overcards on the flop is larger than the chance of having an overpair making it hard oop with our committing but if we get a K or a Q or both he might be unwilling to steal if he now we might very well check-raise it.
If the answer is no i might lay the hand down
