Weakish pocket pair facing large river bet, no limit cash

Your opponent knows you’re probably calling him pretty light on the flop, which makes this a tricky spot - if you have a wide range in his mind, he’s going to be motivated to value bet wide and also bluff wide.

I think given his image he’s more likely to be value betting than bluffing here, so i drop.

What actually happened: You folded and your opponent mucked.

I dont see why he would check the Ace if it hit him, and its unlikely he has a 10.

The hands I would worry about are bigger pocket pairs. I think the 7’s would be good enough of the time, given hes raising so much pre-flop so I voted call.

I think he had KQ or something, because he wanted to see where he’s at on the flop, and we just smoothly called. So he knows we probable have him beat, that’s why he checked the flop. If we had bet there, i think we could’ve taken the pot.
That’s why i think it’s a total bluff and i voted raise.

His range preflop seems big said that we cant beat much the board is very bad for our hand even tho we are on the dealer button he will still be puttin us on a decent holding and when we call on the flop and check the ace on the turn he probs knows we have a pair like the one we have. so i think he either has the ace or we have him, his bet on the end seems like he knows what we have and is trying to push us of it, so i think i wud pay him off on this one with wp ready in the chat box if he has us

I put him on a pocket pair or complete air. An ace would have bet the turn with a flush draw on board. Our pocket pair is not so strong so we may be beaten by accident if he has 88 or 99…so I think the raise is the correct move…he may even lay down a weak ace. Raise and fold to a reraise

Very difficult to know where we stand, I’m split about evenly on being behind or ahead. I call for pot control. If youre ahead, that means hes got air and will fold to a raise, so you dont make any more money that way anyway, and if hes got you beat and you raise, you’ll face a reraise or call and you lose much more. I cant fold a hand like this until he shows me he’s betting with something.

I’d fold a lot of the time, small pocket pairs are useless on boards like this. However, the two factors that make me want to call or raise are the opponent’s known aggression and his check on the turn.

I think a better play would have been to raise his flop bet. You’d have known right then where you were.

IMO he either has a low ace or air. It is indeed hard to know where we stand, but the cost is not too steep that i would be in bad shape. He might be ahead some 50% of the time and I vote call; for at least once every 3 times I make this call I just have to be ahead and that is the price I am being payed for here.

I voted raise IMO, with his hyper aggressive play pre/post flop why wouldn’t he bet that ace hard like he has it? I feel against a agro player if hes holding AK hes gonna go ahead and bet that turn hard in hopes you fold…I put him on a small pair or a mid pair that a big bet on the river should and I believe would take this pot down 8/10 times.
