Weak hand blind vs blind, no limit turbo

DailyHandQuiz

Game type: 45 man turbo NL tournament, PokerStars
Stage of tourney: 19 remain
Your image: Tight
Opponent’s image: Aggressive
Your hand: T♣4♣

The setup: You’re moving toward the final table of this NL turbo 45 man sit and go. You’re playing shorthanded with 19 remaining. Your table has been pretty aggressive since it went short and you haven’t hand any chances to open or cards to call opens with.

This hand the table folds to the SB, who shoves. You start the hand having him covered by just a couple of chips. What’s your play?

Assuming that the SB will shove a wide range of hands, this is pretty much a neutral ev call. So, we need to look to other factors. Folding leaves you with a pretty small stack that doesn’t pose much of a threat to anyone at the table - and even if it did, the tone of the table seems to be such that you’re not going to get a chance to open any time soon. By the time you’re UTG, your stack will be down around 1k, so even if you double, you won’t be significantly better off than you are now (plus the blinds will be up immediately following).

Calling avoids that and brings with it the added bonus that if you win, you’ll shift play back to full table.

What actually happened: You called and the SB showed 53s. Neither of your paired and you won the pot.

Yeah you could call. Or you could fold. Then shove 1600 on the next guys BB. Then when you win that youve got at least another 4 hands to at least pick up an ace and 2.2k to shove with.

I voted fold.

Folding here is rediculous. Your chances of winning aren’t stellar, but probably not worse than 2-1 your getting 3000 for an additional 1600. Calling is better than the alternative of folding and having absolutely no fold equity.
If you lose move on.

i chose call, knowing im probably behind
but unless he has an overpair to my T, the pot odds justify this call
if i win this pot i’d be in a very competitve position in this tournament

On the other hand, there is one crippled stack at the table and the player on your left will still be threatened by your stack. If you push and steal the blinds you gain $1150, and doubling from there will let you contend for the win.

I might fold and try my luck on the above hand. Ten high is just a little too weak.

I felt ashamed of folding T2o, leaving me with 5BB yesterday. Folding T4s here is doubvious, especially this far from the bubble.
I call and get this over with. Neutral EV, but I wont get a chance to open, nor have FE.

Not saying it is necesserily the only play, I like the call.

Lol turbos - certainly are a different set of rules from full ring!

I voted call, purely because you have zero fold equity with your stack, blinds are going up, so it’s 100% luck at this point.

personally i would’ve got my trash hand in an orbit ago.

These quizzes are getting a little out there. yes you should call here with T9 or something but T4….. That’s just stupid. The sb is gonna raise with anything yes but the random possiblility of that anything being higher or lower than a Ten is too great. I think it’s stupid to call off your chips. just wait til the next hand and raise. In push/fold strategy, calling off your chips with T4………. you’re a donkey if you do that.

I would fold because a 10 4 is just not very good odds. even if the other player has not even a pair he could still beat u with a high card.Take the next hand for the 300 SB bet,if nothing comes there, then at least your still in the tournament for a few more good possible hands.

If your opponent doesnt have a pair you have pot odds to justify this call. (eg AKo 63% T4s 37% = 1.7 to 1) He is likely to be shoving any 2 because of his stack size. Therefore call is optimal regardless of the other circumstances in favour of calling i.e opponents stack is already in the pot, you have no fold equity, future double ups will only get you to where you are now, the table conditions etc etc etc

I voted fold, considering my tight image. But… as you say those blinds are stellar at this time and you could just ‘give up’ and gamble. but folding was my choice.
