Game type: 200/400 No Limit on Full Tilt
Your image: You’re the big winner so far this session
Opponent’s image: A little loose preflop, but solid otherwise
Your hand: 6♦5♦
This hand took place between DaEvils and MrSmokey1. You’ll be standing in for DaEvils. Thanks to High Stakes Report for the hand history
The setup: You’re the biggest winner a few dozen hands into this high stakes 6-max session. You haven’t gone to showdown a ton, but you’ve been strong when you do. Your opponent hasn’t really gotten too far out of line at any point so far.
This hand UTG folds and UTG+1 makes it $1000. You call on the button and the blinds fold. You flop weak open ended:
J♥8♠7♥
Your opponent bets 1600 and you call. The turn pairs the board with the 8♥. Your opponent checks and you fire about a pot-sized bet at 5k. Your opponent thinks and calls. The river puts a four flush on board with the 2♥. Your opponent checks again.

I say sure, why not. Just about everything you would have been reasonably calling with on the flop got there on the turn or the river. Additionally, the pot is large enough that you can make a pretty credible bet here. Your big fear is that your opponent may feel compelled to call pretty light due to his double check, but you’re not going to get many spots better for double-barreling the turn and river than this.
What actually happened DaEvils bet 11,600 and smokey called, showing K8s for trip eights, no flush.

Bluff. Then next time do it with the nuts.

His medium stack size invites the bluff. Bet 2/3 of the pot and pray. What actually happened is really unlucky…trip eights should fold in this spot

six handed suited connectors lose a lot of their value due to the decreased pot odds. I don’t like the two initial calls. Smokey has every right to call. If DaEvils had actually turned the flush why bet the pot. Usually when someone has a monster they try to extract as much money as they can from their opponent, not push them out of the pot. The whole play looks like a bluff and Smokey made a tough call on the river.

Seems lik it depends on the stakes…
in the micros, villian will call light because they can’t fold trips or Tptk or whatever.
in the small/medium stakes this line looks like monster or nothing and you would of had to cold call pre and float the flop for this to be nothing. villian might think your line is a little fishy but think that you are way more likely to bet big here with a turned nut-flush or boat hoping to stack a 2nd best hand. It’s a credible story that is going to keep them from calling with anything less than Qh.
in the nose-bleeds check/calling a pot sized bet then checking the river on a scare card seems like a weak line. It seems like they’ve correctly put you on air or monster and it seems like its air enough at these stakes that they have to call.
Of course, I’ve never played nose-bleeds so what the hell do I know? but, the call, float, double-barrel on scare cards line seems to be a lot stronger in low to mid stakes than anywhere less. You’ll find a lot more weak-tags willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I guess, if you don’t like your money. Seems ridiculous to keep betting, you could have been drawing dead to begin with if your opponent has 9 10, not to mention if any of those two cards are hearts. Why try to run the table over if you have already had such huge gains? You got 6 high, with so many better hands out there why not wait for a better spot?

I think its pretty obvious he has AJ or KJ. He bet out on the flop representing it, paused after the 8h came on the turn creating a possible flush. However, if hes got Jacks full or a flush he might have been pausing on the turn deciding whether to call or raise and not call or fold which is what were hoping. He has to fold two jacks with a pot size bet and if hes got us beat well then were beat. I think its more likely he has two jacks so I bet the pot and see what happens.
