It’s looking like you’re probably going to get called if you bet here. Your opponent has called on two streets, which seems like a pot control move on this board. If they had a strong draw or a strong made hand, you probably would have heard from them by now – the two street call suggests a medium pair or some similar hand that has put you on a hand pretty much like the one you have and is now committed to call most river bets.

To get someone off a hand, you’re also going to have make a pretty large bet, which means you’re going to need to succeed a pretty high percentage of the time.

What actually happened: Genius shoved and Pokerface McGee called with Q7o for third pair to win the pot.

If he has an ace he’s going to call. If he hasn’t he shouldn’t have called on the turn. His play in this hand is terrible but has been rewarded from our terrible shove

lol i voted yes the third bullet is the hardest one to fire and the most effective if u bet 6 or 7 thousand n the river i believe there is more than a 50 % chance he will call but a lot depends on your own and oppenents playin style. uve raised like an bet when an ace has come off and continued to the river. if he calls he calls u have some advertising there for later hands when u do have him.

this isn’t the spot for a 3rd bullet. his play is not terrible at all kaimano. you ever played HU? he’s chosen the optimum line. he can only beat a bluff so why would he raise? if you fold middle pair HU all the time you’ll be broke pretty fast. he’s calling us down with any made hand so check this down and save your money for a better spot. who knows, he may have missed his flush too and we may be good.

right

I’ll go one step further and abandon the bluff on the turn and draw at the river for free

The only reason I would make a bet here is to hope i get raised so i don’t have to show down this embarassing hand … in this case, we took two shots at a pot, and have done our best to knock him off a draw… Seems obvious to me that he’s not drawing, and also not buying into any hand we’re trying to represent. let it go, baby.

I think Genius played this pretty well. He represented that ace even before it came down. He was in a great position to bluff at this pot all the way to the end. It was pretty clear that pokerface didn’t have that Ace otherwise he would have made a move of his own. I would have put him on either the same flush draw or the 4 or the 7. Either way he should have laid this down with a push. The only thing, I’m assuming, that convinced him to call was this “very aggressive” image from Genius. He may have been fed up with being bullied and decided to make a stand with middle pair…

if we had a marginal hand like a 7 or a 10 our opponent probably expects us to check it down. If we had an A we wouldn’t shove 2x pot on the river. So the only hand we could really have is some sort of monster like a set or two pair, or nothing.

This was a dumb hand to play with in the first place, even HU. The turn bet was dumb. However betting big on the river once you are in this situation is not dumb–you’re likely to push out a lot of hands that are beating you.

Let’s see, what else is dumb? Well, playing HU is kind of dumb.

Personally I don’t like the bluff on the turn or the river, especially since as OPI mentioned, we’re drawing on the turn for free since our bet on the flop induced a check from our opponent on the turn. I also think that the call with Q7 is quite poor also…calling all of your chips with third pair is a way to lose alot of money fast, unless you had some kind of read on your opponent that you were 90% sure they had nothing at all, you gotta lay down Q7 here, Genius represented the ace, and even if he didn’t have the ace and were drawing he could’ve spiked a 10 on the river. Calling the shove with Q7 was just a bad play IMO.

I think pokerface played the hand immaculately … id just like to know if he would have folded when the spade hit and Genius28 ships.

i assume so.
