Bottom set against a deep-stacked raiser, no limit cash game

Game type: 2/5 NL Cash game, live
Your image: Fairly aggressive, capable of tricky moves
Opponent’s image: Very aggressive, solid, but willing to overvalue overpairs
Your hand: 3♠3♣
The setup: You’ve built a nice stack in this 2/5 NL game that has a $1000 buy in cap. You’ve built your stack mostly by showing down good hands, but you’ve also been putting a lot of chips in play with flop bets and raises and shown a willingness to make plays.
This hand, UTG limps at another deep stack at the table makes it $20 to go. Two players call and you call in the SB with 33 and UTG calls. You flop good:
K♥8♦3♥
You decide to get cute and check. UTG makes it $40 and the PF raiser thinks for a second and then makes a raise to $150 total. One player folds and then a shorter stack flat calls.
You’ve had some confrontations with the raiser, but nothing too significant.
It’s your action. You and the raiser both have over 400 BB’s behind. What’s your play with bottom set?

You should never be afraid of the overset… if you’re playing heads up. Against 3 opponents though? KKK is unlikely because KK would have re-raised pre-flop. 888 is possible, but with only one likely overset you should probably commit to this hand. You can’t call or min raise because of a possible heart-draw, so you should raise big. Like staff said the all-in has added value because it might look like you have Ah8h or something.

Why are you playing with over 400xBB…this is asking for trouble…If you actually do see an over set you are going home to mommy to cry in her lap having lost 20k. 400×5$ = 20,000. Otherwise though I like the 400-1000 raise

Raise 400-1000 or all in (I voted the former).
Staff argues each possible move in light of making opponents make biggest mistake possible - always the goal, of course - I still look at those 2 hearts out there and need to make the heart draw pay to draw.
Not worried about set over set. It happens. Worried about flush over set.

I voted raise 400-1000. The only possible draw here is the heart draw - on those rare 4-gap boards like K-8-3 or Q-7-2, the next card cannot make a straight for anyone. Since his raise suggests two hearts, this is just a simple value bet since I’m clearly a favorite to win the hand, even more so if both players have two hearts in their hands.
I suppose someone could read my bet as an AK check-raise, but that would be bold with the lively betting action.

hey idiot. 400×5 is 2,000. not 20,000. you must really know how to calculate odds. loser

I like both the 400-1000 and the all in bet here. For this particular instance I voted for the all in.
For 3 reasons.
First we know our opponent overvalues over pairs. Which tells me they have a willingness to talk themselves into making big calls.
Secondly, I agree with the staff the gross over bet hides the value of our hand. This is especially true if our opponents have seen us make big bets on draws.
And thirdly, to protect our EV from action killing cards on the turn such as a third heart.

Is this a cash game? All in, take his head off.If he has KK/88.Good for him T/S for you.If he is on flush draw.It wiil cost him to see it.

For the reasons already stated by others–all in without question.
Frankly I was not worried about the raiser, who I put on a flush draw. I was worried about UTG. Betting $40 into a $105 pot looks like a trap bet to me.

I agree with raising enough to get the short stack allin perhaps an amount just under the size of the pot.
I would be slightly concerned but still willing to gamble my stack in this spot.
I believe that it is not that unlikely that I am up against 2 flush draws so I want to tempt people to call and bet the turn strong unless a flush card comes.
The only hand that an all-in is going to get action from is 2 pairs (or better) or the short stack flush draw. The all-in bet looks like bottom set, 2 pairs, or A8 flush draw (possibly AK if the player going all-in has shown that he is clueless).
If a flush card comes on the turn, I would use implied odds to determine if I will continue with the hand. This is the type of hand that you can lose your stack or win a big pot.

Betting $40 utg into a $105 looks like steal attempt, not a trap.
If the bet succeeds 1 out 3 attempts, the better makes a nice 62.5% return on the $40 bet (or $25).
I make that bet often unless my table image has been tarnished. Even when it has been tarnished, I will sometimes continue making those type of flop bets to set up for a future trap against any aggressive challengers. Of course, this strategy is much much better in a tournament because the blinds will go up before you snare your prey as opposed to a cash game when the blinds stay the same ( cost : reward ).

raise 1000$. it’s pretty likely you have the best hand right now and you have to protect it against a possible flush draw.
If you are up against a better set then it’s just a “cold deck” and even the best players go broke from time to time (just watch “High Stakes poker” on GSN !)

Pretty obvious that someone has a flushdraw.
Nice big pot.
I voted raise 400-1000, but all in looks nice too.
It would probably only be called by donks or an overset.
But off course, my friends always say that there is no such thing as an overset…
