KJ facing an early all in re-raise, deep in the Sunday Millions

Game type: Poker Stars Sunday Million
Your image: Aggressive
Stage of tourney: 14/~7000 remain
Avg stack: 5 million
Misc notes:
Your hand: K♣J♥

This hand is taken from actual game play during the Stars Sunday Million on 6/10/07. This hand took place between Shaundeeb and mattc00. You’ll be standing in for shaun.

The setup: You’ve been playing a fairly aggressive game, but you’ve also laid down to repops after making significant stabs at two pots, one preflop and one on the flop.

UTG folds and you raise to 500k. A somewhat quiet player on your left pushes all in for about 2.2 million. The table folds back around to you.

What’s your play?

An all-in by a “quiet player”? I’ll fold the KJo and wait for a better spot.

I have to fold here. He probably just has a weak ace, in which case you’re an underdog. With minimal straight and flush possibilities, and an around-average stack, I’ll pass.

This is definitely a close one. I, like the real guy in the tournament, call in this spot. The tipping point for me is the fact that I’ve recently laid down hands to reraises - it gives the raiser more reason to think he can take down this pot easily against me, and gives him a wider range.
It’s a tough call, but I’ll make it and hope for the best. With KJ here, I don’t really expect to be ahead - but then I also don’t expect to be THAT far behind (like if he had JJ+, AK, or KQ). I figure there’s a good chance I’m racing against a low pp or maybe a weaker ace (which ends up being what he actually had), and for those odds, I’m willing to call here.

This is certainly the type of decision we all have to make at the tables but I don’t think it works well for a discussion in this type of forum. The info we have to make our decision on is fairly weak as the only thing that seems to tip people to vote call is the fact that we have laid down to re-raises recently but in no way does the info suggest that the villain is the type of player to pay attention or take advantage of this. I believe I would have to be at the table to make this marginal call so beacause I’ve got limited info and an average-ish stack I had to vote fold.

i would have to say fold because the info say that hes been a quite player so i would have guessed a better hand and would have folded

I’m never in this spot because if I’ve been showing weakness by folding to re-raises recently I am waiting for more than KJo in early position, even 7-handed. If I’m aware of a reputation like that and I still make this play then I deserve to be pushed out again and I fold again.
