Game type: $150 buy in multi table tournament, NL
Your image: You have played tight for several orbits
Stage of tourney: Two left until the bubble breaks
Avg stack: About 14000
Misc notes: You have no history with this opponent.
Your hand: ??
The setup: You’re on the bubble of a $150 buy in no limit tournament that started with a field of about 300. You had a larger stack and have folded several rounds to drain down to right about average at 14000.
The table folds around to the CO, who makes a standard raise. What range of hands are you willing to reraise with in this spot?

I would only re-raise with hands where I can call an all-in re-raise from the CO. His range might be wide, but his stack is really bigger than yours, and you don’t even have a read on him.
What if you re-raise with A7 and he puts all-in ? On the bubble, I usually prefer being the first raiser.
If I had a strong read on him of someone constantly raising on the CO or on the button, I’d loosen my range, but in that case, I’d rather be cautious

Another play is to smooth call since you’re in position – this is often best to do w/ hands that can’t be easily dominated like suited connectors. If the flop comes undercards or w/ flush possibilities, you can often swipe Player E’s continuation bet with a reraise.

The staff suggested making it 9000, partly to have something to bluff the flop. How can you steal a 19200 pot with 5465?
I would play bubble play here, and not make risky moves against the big stack. I voted premium hands.
I like Matt Tags suggestion, only it will be very tempting for the SB to push. If BB pushes you can afford it, but SB has enough chips to make you hurt.

I chose premium hands only. I don’t like the fact that the blinds are left to act and they’re short stacked. Original raiser could put you all in also. Too risky this close to the bubble. Once you cash, that is the time to turn up the agression and start shooting for the final table.

I will not reraise with ANY HAND here. I will only call with premuim hands, and will muck anything else!
I don’t want to go broke now. I’m almost there, and I don’t want to put everything on the line.
If I reraise with any two cards, and he comes over the top, I just dumped off many valuable chips.
I don’t want to play marginal hands like weak pairs and suited connectors now, I don’t want to get a tough decision on the flop.
With premuim hands though, I will not raise too. I will just call. If he has a good hand, he’ll probably bet on the flop and the turn, and I will trap him and double up. I he was trying to steal, I want to give him the chance to bluff on the flop. If he doesn’t bluff, I wasn’t going to win any more chips anyways.
The only hand I might raise with here is something like a good pair (not premuim pair) something like Q-Q or J-J. If I have one of these two hands, I will move in. I don’t want to see a flop now, I just want to take the blinds and antes, and if I get called I might be up against A-K where its a coinflip. I might also be up against A-A or K-K, but it is also very likely that he will call with 10-10 or A-J, where I will be in great shape to double up.
Even though I chose not to raise, I might call with many hands here. I never fold pairs. I will call with any pocket pair hoping to flop a set! I might call with suited A-x or hands like K-Q suited.
Any other type of hand, I will muck… I DONT WANT TO BUST NOW ON MARGINAL HANDS!!
