Your image: You and Phil have been playing a short but aggressive match
Misc notes:
Your hand: K♦K♥
This quiz is taken directly from actual game play on the 300/600 NL table. You will be standing in for Phil Ivey’s opponent.
The setup: You’re dealt kings preflopand are happy to see Phil give you action with a standard preflop raise to 1800. You decide to start building a pot right off the bat and pop it to 5400. Ivey calls. The flop comes pretty connected:
J♣9♦8♠
You lead out by betting the pot and, somewhat to your horror, Ivey flat calls. The turn is about as bricky as you could hope for – a deuce of spades.
There’s over 30k in the middle and and it’s your action. Your play?

I guessed Ivey had TT – so I voted bet large to make it to costly to draw an 11-outer (7s, Qs, or another T).

When playing a pro and have a very strong hand and he is just calling your bets and there is a straight draw out there I would raise big they know whats going on. Take down the pot no need to slow down at this point and have him catch something. And if you raise big and he goes all in. Call you just beat phil. Just noticed the out come. dam Im getting good at this!!

make a big bet on fourth after seeing that nice blank hit, after all what beats you – Q-10 pocket aces or a set, cumon make your move against the poker master !

Guessed he had suited face cards, maybe K-Qs. Pushing all-in is not bad by any means but predictable…I would have done a small bet to see how Ivey would react and plus you can always push it in next street.

With every turn of the card you give your opponent a chance to make his hand. Take the pot down right now. Make him pay to chase.

The other way to look at it is if you make a smallish bet, say 1/2 pot on the turn, there’s going to be 60k in there w/ you holding 30k going to the turn. If a scare card shows up, what’re you going to do? Fold to a big bet or any bet for that matter? Phil (and any pro) would be tricky enough to bet out on the river if a scare card comes. What’s Phil’s read of Luigi? How’s Phil been playing that day? Tough question to answer w/o more info. Anyways, I stack there on the turn.

In the previous, I meant going to the river.
