We don’t have any read on him, so let’s assume his actions mean something.
He called pre-flop, which could represent a drawing hand or a middle pair. He called both of your bets, so he has to have something. Given his pre-flop call,
it is possible that he made a straight, a set or even a double pair such as 8-7 and I believe there are chances that you are beat. I would almost consider the A as a blank card (except if he was on an ace high flush draw) and if he had something, he probably had it before the river. The only chances you beat him is if he has a J with a weaker kicker or a pair like 66, 99 or 10 and in that case it’s very likely that he checks if you check.
Therefore, I would check and probably fold, except if he gives you good odds to call.

I very reluctantly chose bet small-and at that probably only a min bet and then hate myself when he turns over a better hand or raises me and I fold. I do think a check fold, or check call if given the odds is probably better and I was going back and forth and chose the bet option.

Make a $300 blocking bet

We have all been here before. With the two clubs on the flop and him just calling your bets im sure he is on a flush draw but I know I have the best hand here with the J. I dought that Ace did anything for him with the way the hand has gone.
I check here if this was my hand and see if he throws out a wild bluff. In most cases he will check as well thinking you will call a small raise. If he goes all in I fold but thats not going to happen. He missed his flush and on to the next hand.
You can also do what bill sugested above with a blocking bet to keep control of the hand. By doing so you are really controling what he would bet to slow him down.

the button just called all the way to river which puts him on a flush draw to me if he had flopped or turned 2 pair he would have bet large atleast once to deture you hitting the flush the jack is good forget about the ace he more than likely doesnt have it if you have a question based on his personal play then check call but personally i would raise atleast 1/2 the pot and kick him out he might call thinking you missed your flush draw and with his smaller pair

Check to fold if he bets big. He was probably slow playing a str8 with 910. If he checks you get to see the results. A small bet will only give away your hand and a big bet will most likely be re-raised. A check is the only option to collect a half decent pot

The only play is to check/call. Your not getting him off the Ace if he has it. He has been calling the whole time to hit it? I highly doubt it. He has missed the flush, or caught the str8 on the turn. Either way you can call a reasonable bet here to find out.

I waffled between bet small and check-fold here, and I’m going with bet small. I don’t use blocking bets very often, but this looks like a good spot for one. The pot will almost double your stack, and it’s a sit-n-go, so you don’t want to get in the habit of letting pots like this go on the river moreso than in a cash game. Your opponent is likely to fold alot of busted draw hands that he may have made a large river bluff with, which is your primary goal with a blocking bet. There are very few monster hands on this board, yet alot of hands your opponent might want a half pot bet for, but won’t raise if you bet somewhere in the 150-250 range, which is your second goal with a blocking bet.

why are you playing QJo in middle position early in a sit and go?
[Reply]
Given that we have no information on the player, which obviously would dictate our play massively I elected for check – fold / call. The only real hands you can beat are busted fluch draws and bluffs. Given we have no info on the player and he hasn’t tried to take the pot away you can discount the bluff. Really except 10 J any realistic hand from early position with a J beat us. Equally any AX, overpair or possible two pair. Factor in the 9 10 straight, the fact that there are 1000 chips in the pot, which at this satge is a decent amount to add to you stack – plus even if you lost you still have 1000 – I like checking in the hope he checks. Ultimately if he bets massive then I am not sure I would want to put it on the line when the only hand I can beat is a busted something.
