Game type: 200/400 NL cash game
Your image: The game has just started up.
Misc notes: Your opponent is David “magicpitch1″ Benyamine, a loose-aggressive pro
Your hand:A♥T♥
The Setup:This hand is based on actual gameplay from the 200/400 NL table on Full Tilt Poker. You will be standing in for the opponent of poker pro David “magicpitch1″ Benyamine.
Preflop, Benyamine limps and you make it $1800 to go. The blinds fold and he calls. The flop hits you:
T♠6♣9♣
… and when Benyamine checks, you think about betting, but decide to check behind and plan to play the turn strong. Unfortunately, the turn doesn’t exactly cooperate, bringing the Q♦. Benyamine leads out for the pot – $4200 – and you call. The river is fairly sickening…
T♠6♣9♣ Q♦T♣
… and then Benyamine leads in to you for $14,800 – about two grand over pot. What’s your play?

I hate that these quizes so often put you in a spot where you shouldnt be in the first place. Should have bet that flop.
If he hit the flush, why didnt he bet on flop? It would even be easy to put him on a T, so it would be a nice plausible bluff.
If he had KJ and str8 on turn, why did he limp preflop?
He could easily have a Q or J10 or the like. The big danger is 10 9 or Q 10 in my head.
Of course he could easily have me beat, but I was tempted to call. Then again, I dont play 200 400 stakes, and I would not have been in that spot. If he had called ME down to the flop, it would be an easy laydown though.

1) why did you let yourself get into this position by your earlier plays
and
2) what can you beat here?
Seems like they did everything wrong on each street after the flop, so they probably continued here and called.

If this was an actual hand, what was the actual result?

Ya I am curious what happened with this terrible hand as well, probably a call if the patter of bad play continues. I would fold here because I think he checked the flop planning to check raise with a flush draw. He is obviously not scared of the flush on the river, and is trying to look like hes bluffing. He bet too much to have a Q, and unless he is completely bluffing (not likely since your call on the turn signaled you had something) you are beat.

One more sick thought is that maybe he has the 87 of clubs and flopped a straight, then rivered a straight flush.

he called and benyamine showed a straight

checking the 10 is a great play heads up. very risky but thats why is such a good play. no one expects you to have it now. most likely he is bluffing because of the check or hit his queen and is making you pay to draw. The river bet is a good bluff number not a value bet.Call and don’t reraise though cuz you never really know if he hit the flush.
