Game type: NL Tournament, $50 buy in
Your image:
Stage of tourney: Very early, 30 minutes in. 460 of 500 players remain.
Avg stack: T 3000
Misc notes:
Your hand: A♥A♦
The setup: You limp preflop with aces, hoping to trap Player H, who had raised the last 3 hands preflop. Unfortunately for you, he elects to limp, and you see a flop 5 ways. It’s a doozy:
J♠9♦Q♠
The blinds check, and you decide to check as well, thinking that it might be better to just surrender, and definitely wanting to keep the pot small at this point. Then Player B bets T125 into T200, player H folds, and both of the blinds call. now there’s 575 chips in the middle, and the action is back to you. What’s your plan?

Raise small and see if anyone plays back. If they do you are beat and you should slap yourself for limping with aces and fold. Otherwise you will narrow the field and have more information about where you stand.

I am not a tournament player, so it’s no good for DHQ that I agree with their answer. Push and see if you can’t get q 10 to gamble with you. You’re a slight favorite and with the money added, it’s a good wager. I also think that if someone had a strong hand here you would have seen more action – unless they flopped the str8, but even then…

Raise to t700. It’s a big enough raise to have a chance of taking the pot down while defining our hand. It’s also not so big that we commit ourselves to the pot if player B shoves.

fold
even though you might be ahead at the moment, with the amount of draws available on the board its likely you will be beat by the river
and its very early in the tournament, I have nothing invested in this pot, no point in risking that many chips with a marginal hand at this stage
