Daily Hand Quiz

Game Type: No Limit Holdem Tournament
Your Image: You’ve been fairly quiet since sitting down at the table a few rounds before this hand.
Stage of the tournament: Right on the bubble.
Your hand: K♥K♣

The Setup: As first to act preflop, you raised to 3x the BB with your kings. The button and the SB both called, putting about 1500 in the middle. You prepare for an ace on the flop, but instead get:

3♥6♦2♣.

The SB checks, you bet 1000, the Button folds and the SB now checkraises you, making the bet 2000 total. It’s your action – what do you do?

As a follow up, what if you were holding 9′s instead of kings?

This seems like one of those spots where you have to throw caution to the wind because you’re in a tournament. In a cash game you could be a lot more careful, but it looks you have a very good chance of having the best hand here.

I would need to know the game style of my opponent here. Is he a loose player? If so I might worry about either trips or straight. I believe I might fold this hand 5% of the time; the other option here is all in. Flat calling might give him the chance to commit less chips then you could take, could give him an A or pair the board.

Just to check what kind of hand that can have us beat.

A set? Like 22 33 or 66? I don’t think so since he was calling with 10% of his stack he’s not getting the call20 rules and we are on the bubble and he was OOP, I don’t think he will play his small pp here.

45 for straight? Is he really calling 45 OOP with a caller before? Doesn’t seem like it and if so why he raised us? If he’s just call the pot is 3500 and we left with 3800 he can have our stack with just calling the flop.

Two pair? Again will he call with 36 pre-flop? Blah no..

AA? Is he that brave playing AA 3 handed OOP and just call pre on the bubble? If so he is the man and he deserved my stack.

This seems like A6 or weaker medium pair like 88-JJ and since we are not deep and on the bubble, I will ship it and hope he fold ( if this isn’t the bubble I hope he calls).
