Daily Hand Quiz

Game type: No limit cash game, full table
Your image: Hyper-aggressive
Misc notes: You haven’t seen the minimum raise much at this table
Your hand: J♦T♠
The setup: You limped in late position and caught a nice flop for your hand:

8♣9♥T♦

Top pair and an open ended straight draw with position – not bad. The small blind, a fairly tight player, leads out for the minimum; another tight player flat calls and the the short stack at the table, who you have no real read on, raises the minimum. What’s your play?

I want to call here and see the turn card. A raise is too much commitment for me.

Why not just call, somoene could be slowplaying early and if they raise, then you can still get away from the hand, no problem. If you raise now it might be hard to fold

It doesn’t look like you have the best hand here. The small blind probably has a better kicker if not two pair. Seat C may already have the draw your looking for. Better to call to see if you improve.

am i the only one willing to fold here? you have two tight players betting and calling in early position, you have the shortstack raising, so you know his chips are going in and youre not in for but 2 dollars. it depends on your gut i guess. raise big if you think youre best if not theres enough to make me get out of there. (no one ever once mentioned the possibility of a q j here where youre only hoping for a miracle chop)

Smooth call if i were you. Maybe fold. You can get information on the small blind. If he re-raises he definitely has you. Since the pot was limped all around its entirely likely that someone already has the straight with QJ. Two pairs are also likely in an unraised pot. You are probably behind since every player has shown interest in the hand and put money in after the flop. Proceed with caution.

Raise to about 10 here. betting the blind on the flop means nothing. chase them out. as for the re raise, his chipstack is low so you can afford to call his all in if he does come over top. hyper aggressive players are dangerous because you never know what they have, keep it that way. especially this hand because you actually have something

I like a raise here to see were I stand. $12 is a good size bet i believe
